Lower values indicate higher hazard.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"302\">Representative Gas \/ Example<\/td>\n<td width=\"264\">A \u201cmodel\u201d gas typically associated with each group is used as a reference.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>This classification is important because it determines gases\u2019 sensitivity to ignition and indicates how difficult it is to confine\/extinguish an explosion within equipment. density:<\/span><\/h5>\n<p>The relative density of a gas or vapour indicates how many times heavier or lighter it is than air, taking the density of air under normal conditions as the reference.<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Lower Explosive Limit (LEL):<\/span><\/h5>\n<p>The minimum concentration of a flammable gas or vapour in air, expressed as % by volume, below which the mixture is not flammable or explosive because there is too little fuel for combustion to be sustained.<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Upper Explosive Limit (UEL):<\/span><\/h5>\n<p>The maximum concentration of a flammable gas or vapour in air, expressed as % by volume, above which the mixture does not explode because there is excess fuel and insufficient oxygen to sustain
